Job description
Overview
John Sisk & Son Ltd, a family-owned international construction and engineering group operating throughout Ireland, the UK, and Europe, specializes in shaping infrastructure and spaces for current and future generations. They are expanding their Infrastructure team by hiring a Senior Planner to lead and set benchmarks in planning and project control functions in both preconstruction and construction stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of a baseline contract schedule encompassing design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases with fully logical links and a defined critical path.
- Develop and oversee a construction target program that identifies improvements relative to the contract schedule.
- Formulate tender event schedules to manage subcontractor procurement aligned with design release and lead-in activities.
- Manage electronic filing and administration of planning and scheduling documents using the common data environment for easy access.
- Provide comprehensive program information to assist project management teams effectively.
- Create 4D graphical models or 2D phase plans to illustrate construction sequencing, phasing, and logistics.
- Utilize the construction schedule to help produce project preliminary documentation such as staff allocation, logistics planning, and temporary work requirements.
- Collaborate with supply chain partners to integrate design timelines, lead-ins, construction durations, plant, and labor needs into the project schedule.
- Assess risks and opportunities in each program and propose mitigation strategies, including managing float and time risk allowances.
Experience & Training
- Advanced training in construction project management software focusing on progress analysis and S-curve reporting as well as cost and resource management.
- Expertise with Primavera P6 software for resource and cost control.
- Leadership training, including managing people effectively.
- Strong understanding of contract forms such as JCT and NEC.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma relevant to construction management.
- Construction management-specific certification.
- Certification in planning and scheduling software use.
- Membership of a related professional body where applicable.
