We are looking for a seasoned and visionary Senior SRE Manager to spearhead and expand our newly formed Site Reliability Engineering team. Beyond leadership, you will define the strategic roadmap for reliability, nurture and mentor engineers, cultivate a culture centered on continuous learning and improvement, and advocate for engineering practices that balance rapid development with strong stability. You will collaborate with engineering leaders to embed reliability as a core organizational value.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and expand a team of Site Reliability Engineers, fostering innovation, technical excellence, and empowerment. Provide tailored coaching and career development, managing both senior and emerging talent.
• Implement fair, sustainable on-call schedules, including global coordination where necessary, to safeguard engineers' focus and well-being.
• Establish team routines such as runbook reviews, incident simulations, and post-incident retrospectives to promote quality and knowledge sharing.
• Define and drive a multi-year technical vision and strategy for observability and automation platforms in partnership with infrastructure leadership, aligning with business goals.
• Oversee operational excellence, managing critical user-facing service availability and efficiency. Enhance incident response processes to minimize resolution times and failure frequency, while championing a blameless, data-informed post-mortem culture encouraging systemic improvements and automation.
• Refine and optimize processes, collaborating with teams to improve production release standards.
• Design and maintain a 24/7 on-call rotation optimized for responsiveness and noise reduction; serve as executive escalation contact during major incidents.
• Lead disaster recovery strategies including playbooks, failover drills, simulations, and remediation tracking for service level objective gaps.
• Manage SRE budget, tooling, headcount, and vendor relationships, partnering with infrastructure leadership and finance to negotiate contracts and ensure investment value.
• Influence cross-functional leaders across Software Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Security to promote SRE principles and embed reliability considerations in service design from inception.
• AI Integration Leadership: Drive Tubi's evolution to an AI-native SRE organization by developing and executing strategies that integrate AI and machine learning for predictive maintenance and automated anomaly detection, transforming monitoring from reactive to proactive.
• Champion the responsible adoption of AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate automation and infrastructure development, establishing team standards and best practices.
• Build and present business cases for new AI tooling, managing vendor engagements and ensuring cost-effective, secure implementations that demonstrate substantial ROI in reliability and efficiency.
• Promote critical AI literacy within the team to evaluate and learn from AI-driven outputs, extending blameless post-mortem practices to automated decisions to ensure full understanding and control.

Qualifications

• Over 8 years of technical experience with at least 1 year leading engineering teams in Site Reliability, DevOps, or Production Engineering.
• Thorough mastery of SRE principles, including Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), error budgets, toil reduction, and capacity planning.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with an ability to convey complex technical strategies to diverse audiences.
• Robust technical background as a hands-on software or site reliability engineer prior to management, with solid expertise in AWS, particularly networking, IAM, EKS, ALBs/NLBs, Route 53, and CloudWatch.
• Proven experience operating Kubernetes in production environments (preferably EKS) encompassing service exposure, networking, and availability considerations.
• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible, container orchestration with Kubernetes, observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Splunk, incident management tools like PagerDuty and FireHydrant, deployment safety tools including Argo Rollouts and LaunchDarkly, and observability protocols like OpenTelemetry.

Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with local pay transparency laws, the annual salary range for this role in Toronto, Canada, is CAD 164,600 to 235,100, with the final offer depending on education, skills, and relevant experience. Additional compensation includes an annual discretionary bonus and a long-term incentive plan.
