Senior Design Researcher - User Science

Position Overview

This role is offered on behalf of a partner organization responsible for managing applications and subsequent hiring steps. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth user research employing a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods, such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, experiments, and data evaluation.
• Identify and consolidate user needs spanning various products and organizational initiatives and proactively advocate for them.
• Present research outcomes effectively by crafting presentations, detailed reports, engaging storytelling, and maintaining well-organized documentation.
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including product management, engineering, design, and process experts to weave user insights into strategic and operational decisions.
• Create and oversee scalable frameworks for research operations that make methodologies reproducible, findings accessible, and actionable across teams.
• Support the advancement of user science by producing resources, training programs, and educational content that foster user-centered approaches.
• Develop structured knowledge management systems for consolidating research results, enhancing collaboration and information sharing.
• Facilitate organizational transformation by embedding research-informed processes into product development workflows and quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's or Master’s in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related fields, or equivalent practical expertise.
• Strong academic credentials complemented by a continual passion for learning and intellectual curiosity.
• Broad experience in qualitative and quantitative user research, with specialist knowledge in at least one research domain.
• Proven skills in conducting user interviews, usability assessments, surveys, A/B testing, experimental design, and sophisticated data analysis.
• Interest and competence in technology and open-source environments, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams.
• Expertise in translating complex data into compelling visual narratives using data storytelling and information design principles.
• Excellent communication and narrative skills that can adapt messages for various stakeholders.
• Strong organisational abilities in establishing research knowledge bases, systems, and workflows that scale.
• Demonstrated impact on influencing product strategies, organizational culture, or practices through research insights.
