Senior Design Engineer - Data Centre

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a team based in Doha, Qatar, and contribute to a large-scale data centre construction project. This position involves leading and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering designs to ensure technical compliance, thorough coordination, and seamless delivery from initial design phases through to construction and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the management and coordination of design efforts for data centre construction projects from conceptual development to project completion.
• Collaborate across multiple disciplines including architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, ICT/ELV, BIM, and specialized design teams to synchronize project plans.
• Conduct thorough reviews of engineering drawings, technical specifications, calculations, submissions, and shop drawings to guarantee quality and adherence to standards.
• Address and resolve design interface conflicts, technical inquiries, RFIs, and coordination challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work closely with contractors, consultants, clients, and internal project teams to facilitate integrated and seamless delivery.
• Participate in value engineering, assess constructability, and optimize design approaches to enhance project outcomes.
• Track and manage design progress aligned with project schedules to ensure timely completion of design packages.
• Engage in technical workshops, coordination sessions, and design review meetings with all relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure all designs meet project specifications, client requirements, local regulations, and recognized international codes.
• Provide ongoing technical support during the construction phase, commissioning, and project close-out stages.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 7 to 10 years of experience in design engineering, with a strong focus on data centre construction projects.
• Proven track record in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on critical infrastructure projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques, design coordination, and project delivery methodologies.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM platforms, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience in assessing technical documents, engineering calculations, material submissions, and construction drawings thoroughly.
• Excellent skills in communication, coordination, and managing multiple stakeholders effectively.
• Experience in hyperscale, colocation, or other mission-critical data centre projects is compulsory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience managing the full delivery lifecycle of hyperscale or mission-critical facilities.
• Familiarity with international building regulations and standards related to data centre design.
• Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and technical decision-making.
• Ability to juggle various priorities within fast-moving project environments efficiently.
• Past involvement in construction support, commissioning procedures, and the handover process.
