About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Scrum Master to join our team on a long-term contract basis, initially for six months, with possibilities for extension. This position is based in Boston, MA, and requires a hybrid work schedule with three days on-site each week, totaling 40 hours weekly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Coach and mentor the development team, product owner, and stakeholders to foster agile adoption and Scrum best practices.
- Identify and eliminate obstacles hindering the team's progress.
- Protect the team from distractions and prevent scope creep to maintain focus.
- Monitor and report team velocity, sprint status, and critical metrics to relevant stakeholders.
- Promote a collaborative environment with accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with the Product Owner to ensure a well-maintained and prioritized backlog.
- Contribute to the organization's wider Agile transformation initiatives.
- Manage and resolve conflicts constructively within the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a comparable agile facilitation role.
- Certification as a Scrum Master such as CSM, PSM I/II, or SAFe SM.
- Thorough understanding of Scrum principles, Agile methodologies, and software development life cycles.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated capability to identify blockers and effectively manage team dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with project management tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of scaled Agile frameworks including SAFe or LeSS.
- Background in software engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience working with geographically distributed or remote teams.
Technical and Soft Skills
- Result-oriented leadership ensuring timely and clear delivery while facilitating decision-making and maintaining project momentum.
- Servant leadership approach focused on removing barriers and nurturing team development and maturity.
- Strong stakeholder management skills engaging both business and technical audiences to foster cooperation and clarity.
- Proficiency using Jira for tracking delivery metrics and Confluence for documentation and team collaboration.
- Understanding of ERP systems, especially within the context of Workday implementations.
Position Details
This role is offered as a long-term contract starting with six months, with the possibility of extension. The working schedule is a full 40-hour week with 3 days required onsite in Boston, MA 02115. The work environment supports a hybrid setup.
