Job description
Position Overview
Compass Community seeks a dedicated School Site Manager to ensure the upkeep, safety, and compliance of our school facilities. This integral role focuses on maintaining an environment that supports the wellbeing of pupils, staff, and visitors.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform routine repairs and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, and painting tasks.
- Carry out regular site inspections and swiftly address maintenance matters.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards such as fire safety checks and water hygiene management.
- Look after external spaces like playgrounds, pathways, and parking areas.
- Assist with security tasks including opening and closing procedures and emergency interventions.
- Document completed maintenance work and contribute to audits and inspections.
- Support school-related events and interact politely with staff, pupils, and visitors.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in building upkeep, caretaking, or facility management.
- Comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation.
- Capability to manage minor repairs securely and effectively.
- Excellent communication abilities and a self-directed work ethic.
- Flexible, dependable, and focused on child welfare.
Additional Preferable Qualifications
- Previous work experience within educational settings.
- Possession of basic trade certifications or NVQs.
- Knowledge of fire safety protocols and water hygiene practices.
Essential Prerequisites
- Valid United Kingdom driving licence if required to manage multiple locations.
- Willingness to complete Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
- Basic proficiency with IT tools for job logging and electronic communication.

The role is full-time with potential flexibility for occasional duties outside standard hours.
