Stellenbeschreibung
Role overview
Othona Community is looking for a full-time Residential Team Member to live and work on site at its Bradwell-on-Sea centre on the Essex coast. This position is part of a shared community way of life rather than a standard job.
The Bradwell site provides accommodation for up to 60 guests in multi-occupancy bedrooms and yurts, along with camping space. The kitchen and wider facilities can cater for as many as 150 people. The community runs retreats, events, and group bookings, with typical group sizes ranging from 30 to 60.
What you will contribute
The role calls for someone who enjoys working with people of different ages and helping to create a welcoming environment for everyone who arrives at Othona. Useful experience may include household coordination, office administration, and social media support.
You should be an organised, adaptable, and flexible person who stays calm when circumstances change and works positively as part of a team. A respect for the community's Christian foundation is important, together with a willingness to engage respectfully with people of all beliefs and none. A strong commitment to safety and safeguarding is also essential.
Working arrangements and benefits
This is a live-in role in a beautiful coastal setting. Accommodation is simple but rent-free, and meals, council tax, and utility bills are included. The position also comes with a modest salary and employer contribution to a personal pension scheme.
Working hours are flexible, and the pattern includes two days off each week. Annual leave is 28 days, including Bank Holiday entitlement.
How to apply
Applicants should send a CV and covering letter to [email protected]. The covering letter should answer the following questions:
- Why you have chosen to apply to Othona for the Residential Team Member role
- How you would describe yourself and what you would bring to Othona, including any relevant personal circumstances
- Something about your spiritual life and orientation
Selection process
Applications are being considered as they arrive, so early submission is encouraged. If shortlisted, and depending on your prior experience with Othona, you will be asked to visit and volunteer at the centre on dates that work for both sides. This gives both you and the team a chance to get to know each other and learn more about the work. In most cases, two visits are expected, after which an interview would usually take place if both parties wish to continue.
