Role Overview
Alliance is hiring a motivated and experienced NZ Registered Electrician to join the engineering team at the Lorneville Plant in Invercargill. This is a practical, shift-based position in a large industrial setting where your work will directly influence equipment reliability, production performance, and site success. The role is suited to someone who wants more than a standard electrical position and is keen to build a long-term career with broader trade growth.
Key Duties
- Diagnose faults and respond to breakdowns across plant machinery and equipment.
- Carry out planned and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Work on PLC-based systems, automation, and instrumentation.
- Maintain conveyors, VSD-driven motors, and refrigeration systems.
- Assist with vacuum packing machinery and other electrical systems on site.
- Support plant improvement work, upgrades, and capital projects.
- Record and manage work through a computerized maintenance system.
- Interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation when needed.
- Follow New Zealand electrical regulations and site safety requirements.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams.
- Contribute ideas and effort toward continuous improvement across the site.
Candidate Profile
- You hold current New Zealand electrical registration and a practising licence.
- You have solid commercial and/or industrial electrical experience.
- You can troubleshoot effectively and resolve faults quickly.
- Experience with PLCs, automation, or instrumentation will be an advantage.
- You bring a dependable attitude, strong work ethic, and positive approach.
- You are committed to health and safety and take pride in quality workmanship.
- You are comfortable working in a safety-sensitive environment.
- You can work independently as well as collaborate with others.
- You are open to learning and expanding into wider trade responsibilities.
- You are available for shift work and breakdown callouts when required.
