Role Overview
The Ready Mix Truck Driver is responsible for operating the concrete mixer truck safely and efficiently. This includes delivering concrete loads to various commercial and residential job sites while navigating through diverse terrain conditions. The role also involves managing heavy extension chutes, ensuring precise concrete placement, maintaining the truck’s condition, and collaborating with team members and dispatch for smooth operations.
Key Duties
- Adhere strictly to safety regulations and promote a secure work environment.
- Ensure concrete deliveries are made safely and punctually to designated job locations.
- Adjust discharge techniques based on site-specific requirements and conditions.
- Handle, attach, and manage extension chutes weighing 30 to 50 pounds as needed.
- Keep the ready-mix truck clean and mechanically sound through regular care.
- Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customers.
- Coordinate effectively with dispatch and other team members to optimize delivery operations.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), either class A or B.
- High school diploma is preferred.
- Must not be barred by the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse regulations.
- Proficient in English for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Maintain a clean driving record: no DUI/DWI in past 5 years, and no more than three moving violations in last 3 years.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols within construction and transportation contexts.
- Good communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and supervisor guidance efficiently.
- Familiarity with traffic routes and basic truck maintenance is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Strict compliance with safety gear usage and protocol is mandatory.
- Work environments vary and often include outdoor, industrial, and physically demanding settings.
- Physical activity involves frequent walking, sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, and climbing as part of daily duties.
