About the Company
Oerlikon Balzers Coating India Pvt. Ltd is a subsidiary of a reputed multinational corporation specializing in coating technologies. The company operates a plant located in Bavla, Ahmedabad.
Job Overview
We are seeking a Quality Engineer with a minimum of 4 years experience to oversee quality and HSE activities at the plant. The role requires working six days a week on a rotational shift basis (3 shifts).
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate quality issues and updates during daily production meetings and support root cause analysis.
- Analyze customer and internal complaints collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Raise quality alerts and lead quality awareness sessions addressing identified issues.
- Manage deviation requests, rework, scrap, and warranty order entries in a timely manner.
- Participate actively in sampling and quality inspection testing.
- Prepare and distribute quality inspection reports to customers and original equipment manufacturers as required.
- Handle inspection instruments such as calipers, XRF analyzers, hardness testers, and vernier gauges.
- Perform quality control inspections and tests including hardness, adhesion, and coating thickness measurements.
- Conduct process and product audits and document findings thoroughly.
- Assist the Quality Manager with continuous improvement projects such as 3 in 1 and 1-1-1 improvement initiatives.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues and non-conformities found during audits.
- Track quality page data to ensure compliance with customer needs.
- Oversee calibration compliance of measuring and monitoring devices (MMDs).
- Conduct monthly Product Quality Meetings (PQM) to review plant performance with management.
- Update necessary records including quality deviations and claims on SharePoint for further analysis.
- Authorize blocking or quarantining of batches or parts in case of deviations and release based on decisions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy Engineering.
- At least 4 years of quality control experience, preferably in the automotive or coating industry.
- Proficient with quality testing equipment such as coating thickness measurement tools, hardness testers, and adhesion test instruments.
- Hands-on experience with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and related software tools.
- Familiarity with ISO 9000 audits and maintaining quality documentation.
- Knowledge of quality tools and calibration procedures for instruments and gauges.
