Role Overview
The Quality Systems Integration Specialist focused on Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) offers specialized expertise vital to maintaining compliance, enhancing efficiency, and aligning systems strategically across Abbott Nutrition's global network.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert-level support for LIMS and chromatography data systems by resolving user issues directly and guiding Specialists and IT partners.
- Serve as a bridge between business users and IT teams, translating requirements and facilitating effective collaboration.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for technological and training enhancements to boost usability and data integrity.
- Analyze system audit outcomes and spearhead corrective and preventive measures to maintain compliance.
- Support the System Owner in ensuring all applications comply with relevant SOPs and fit for purpose.
- Manage access approvals, ensuring compliance with access protocols and segregation of duties standards.
- Gather and define user requirements for LIMS, integrating input from multiple functional areas.
- Create and perform user acceptance tests (UAT) and assist in operational qualification (OQ) testing when necessary.
- Ensure changes to systems are governed by Abbott’s policies and procedures governing change control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Abbott Nutrition network to harmonize LIMS-related processes.
- Develop and maintain procedural documentation aligned with global policies to ensure consistent, compliant system use.
- Provide guidance on job aids and knowledge resources, supporting change management and facilitating knowledge transfer with project managers.
- Offer subject matter expertise on LIMS systems to partner departments including QA, R&D, Manufacturing, and Microbiology.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or an IT/technical field.
- At least 5 years of practical experience with laboratory information management systems.
- Demonstrated success partnering across functions and offering technical advice to enhance end-user experience and system operation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong organization and multitasking abilities.
- Experience in microbiology and environmental monitoring fields.
- Background in regulated food or nutrition sectors, understanding relevant standards and involvement in product scale-up or commercialization.
- Knowledge of data integrity concepts (e.g., ALCOA+), computerized system validation (CSV)/computer system assurance (CSA) methodologies, and preparation for audits and inspections.

This opportunity is a fixed-term contract lasting 3 years, based at Abbott’s site in Pokeno, Waikato District, New Zealand.
