Python Developer (Contract, Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer for a contract position focused on designing, developing, and optimizing scalable backend services. This remote role offers flexible hours between 10 to 40 hours per week, with compensation ranging from $50 to $100 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and improve REST and GraphQL API endpoints to ensure they scale efficiently.
• Implement robust data validation, comprehensive error handling, and enforce security practices within backend systems.
• Plan and perform database schema migrations, optimize database performance, and make necessary adjustments to database structure.
• Test new artificial intelligence-powered models within the Cursor environment, providing detailed feedback through incident reports, bug tracking, and screenshots.
• Engage in focused four-day testing sessions to assess AI model impacts on coding workflows.
• Collaborate with the research team via a dedicated communication channel to discuss findings and suggest enhancements.
• Complete thorough post-testing surveys to share insights on AI model effectiveness and developer experience.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong background as a backend developer with expertise in Python programming.
• Highly skilled in the creation and upkeep of RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• In-depth knowledge of backend data validation processes, error management, and API security measures.
• Experience in handling database migrations, performance tuning, and designing schemas.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools, especially Cursor, is a significant advantage.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly document incidents and bugs.
• Demonstrated success working in dynamic, secure, and collaborative remote environments.
