General Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Manager to join our team to oversee highly complex architectural and construction projects for new county facilities, expansions, renovations, and capital improvements. This role involves coordinating among architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, coordination, and supervision of staff and external parties involved in construction and capital projects.
  • Oversee capital expenditure budgets and monitor project progress to ensure fiscal control.
  • Manage contract negotiations and supervise contracted labor related to capital projects.
  • Address unplanned project cost increases with resolutions and recommendations.
  • Serve as liaison between county departments, elected officials, administrators, and budgeting offices to align project objectives and schedules.
  • Develop yearly budgets for construction projects and provide forecasts for future building needs.
  • Ensure projects comply with County, State, and Federal guidelines from inception through completion.
  • Prepare and deliver project status updates and schedules.
  • Act as liaison for ADA Committee and lead projects centered on ADA compliance and improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills across verbal, written, and visual mediums.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline with six years of relevant architecture, project management, or construction experience, encompassing at least three years as a project manager; OR Master's degree with four years' experience.
  • At least three years' experience in construction project estimating and familiarity with Florida building codes.
  • A General Contractor's License may be considered in place of the bachelor's degree requirement.
  • Possession of a valid Florida driver's license is mandatory.
  • Preferred credentials include Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Registration as a Professional Architect in Florida.
