Job description

Overview

This role is based at the APSN Student Care Centre located in Ang Mo Kio, focused on supporting special needs students and children throughout the Centre's operating hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in facilitating the activities of special needs students and children at the Centre, ensuring active engagement.
  • Oversee and support students' daily activities under supervision to promote their physical, mental, and social development.
  • Maintain and upkeep the Student Care Centre facilities, including conducting regular inspections to meet APSN and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with the Centre Supervisor to ensure smooth operational flow, assist in meeting enrolment targets and financial goals.
  • Support academic, social, personal hygiene, music, art, and motor skills development as part of special education care.
  • Ensure food handling and hygiene practices comply with HACCP standards during food administration to students.
  • Monitor the safety and wellbeing of each child, observe health or emotional status and track progress.
  • Create a secure, educational, and enjoyable environment for all students.
  • Assist in student enrolment, expenses, staffing, and general Centre operations under the Supervisor’s guidance.
  • Carry out classroom teaching duties aligned with APSN curricula and actively supervise student engagement.
  • Collaborate with Centre Supervisor, school leadership, and parents or teachers on behavioural or learning concerns, suggesting strategies for positive behaviour and learning improvements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum diploma holder with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in the social service sector; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Diploma in Community and Social Services or equivalent higher certifications.
  • Additional certification such as WSQ Introductory Student Care Centre, First Aid (CPR & AED), and WSQ Basic Food Hygiene is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Dynamic, innovative team player who is proactive, self-motivated, and mature.
