Job description
Role Overview
The Production Technician I supports the extrusion operator in managing the extrusion equipment to efficiently manufacture high-quality products within a continuous 24/7 industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Work towards accident-free operations by adhering to all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards and requirements.
- Assist the production team in creating products that meet detailed specifications and accurately fill out production reports with careful attention.
- Conduct, document, and verify quality inspections ensuring products meet criteria for attributes such as color, surface finish, and size prior to packaging.
- Handle pallet placement, apply correct packaging methods, and label finished goods following procedure and product guidelines.
- Communicate daily challenges and relevant information to team members including assistants, operators, and supervisors.
- Comply fully with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks within the production area to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of High School or equivalent GED credential is mandatory.
- Manufacturing experience of one year or more is advantageous, although candidates without previous experience will also be considered.
- Competency in English reading, writing, and comprehension, along with basic arithmetic skills involving whole numbers and fractions.
- Capability to understand both written and spoken directions, and proficiency in reading gauges and similar measurement instruments.
- Physical capacity to push, pull, lift, or handle weights between 10 to 100 pounds frequently during the shift.
- Capability to spend entire shifts standing; frequent kneeling, overhead lifting, bending, climbing, and crawling are required.
- Willingness to work in manufacturing environments with potentially high temperatures.
- Self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced, around-the-clock manufacturing operation.
- Availability and interest in working a rotating 2-2-3 schedule (two days on, two days off, three days on).
Compensation
Initial pay rate is $20 per hour with an additional 10% differential for night shifts.
