Production Manager

Overview

We are looking to hire an experienced and driven Production Manager to lead and streamline our manufacturing operations at our facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. This pivotal role requires coordinating daily production activities to ensure efficient manufacturing, adherence to schedules, safety compliance, and budgetary control. Acting as a bridge between strategic leadership and plant-level execution, the manager will spearhead continuous improvement and lead cross-departmental teams toward achieving company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage detailed production schedules that align with customer demand and sales forecasts to optimize manufacturing workflows.
• Evaluate labor, material needs, and projects to eliminate bottlenecks and improve process efficiency.
• Supervise all stages of the production cycle, monitor output rates, and implement process adjustments to enhance productivity.
• Lead initiatives rooted in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S principles to minimize waste and reduce operational expenses.
• Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to maintain optimal inventory of raw materials.
• Develop and enforce rigorous quality control standards ensuring products meet required specifications and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular audits for safety and quality on the production floor.
• Oversee maintenance of production equipment, approve routine upkeep and urgent repairs to reduce downtime.
• Prepare cost estimates and manage operational budgets to control expenditures within financial goals.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate production staff including supervisors and shift leaders, identifying training needs and fostering a motivated and responsible workforce.
• Compile and present production reports, metrics, and KPIs to senior management for performance tracking.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a comparable discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven management experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
• Demonstrable success in meeting production targets, safeguarding workplace safety, and managing budgets effectively.
• Strong leadership qualities including conflict management and team building.
• Proficient in production management software such as ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and MS Office applications.
• Well-versed in continuous improvement methodologies including Lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
• Effective communication abilities in both verbal and written forms.

Working Conditions

• The role primarily operates on the manufacturing plant floor.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory while on the production floor.
• Shift work, on-call duties, and extended hours may be required to handle urgent production matters or to meet critical deadlines.
