About the Role

This position is responsible for overseeing daily production activities within the Joinery Division at Alpago, ensuring output aligns with project schedules, maintains quality standards, meets cost constraints, and effectively utilizes manpower, machinery, and materials. Acting as the operational liaison among the Production Manager, shop-floor supervisors, and auxiliary departments, the role is pivotal in maintaining smooth and safe workshop operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage daily and weekly production plans for all Joinery sub-divisions including CNC, Cutting, Machining, Assembly, Finishing, Upholstery, and Installation according to project deadlines.
• Track production progress relative to master schedules and promptly notify the Production Manager of any delays or resource shortages.
• Distribute manpower, equipment, and materials efficiently to maximize productivity and reduce downtime.
• Supervise line supervisors and carpenters to ensure compliance with approved drawings, cutting lists, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with Quality Control to conduct in-process and final checks, addressing any non-conformances before dispatch.
• Coordinate with Store and Procurement teams to guarantee timely availability of raw materials and consumables.
• Implement and uphold health, safety, and housekeeping (5S) protocols on the shop floor consistent with Group HSE guidelines.
• Monitor machinery and equipment conditions, working closely with Maintenance for preventive and emergency repairs to prevent production halts.
• Maintain records of daily attendance, productivity, and material wastage; generate performance and production reports for management review.
• Facilitate the execution of SOPs, work instructions, and disciplinary systems; escalate disciplinary issues to management as necessary.
• Identify workforce skill gaps and coordinate training or upskilling opportunities in conjunction with HR and training departments.
• Ensure accurate documentation of production data, job cards, and daily progress reports.
• Drive continuous improvement by reducing cycle times, minimizing material waste, and lowering rework rates.
• Detect and rectify production bottlenecks to optimize processes.
• Maintain comprehensive production and performance records and updates.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Wood Technology, Interior Fit-Out, or related technical disciplines.
• Trade certification in joinery or carpentry is a plus.
• At least 15 years of experience in joinery, furniture, or interior fit-out production, with a minimum of 5 to 8 years in supervisory roles.
• In-depth understanding of joinery manufacturing techniques, materials, and machinery such as CNC, edge banding, and panel saws.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, cutting lists, and specifications.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or fit-out environment within the UAE is preferred.

Skills and Expertise

• Extensive knowledge of joinery production processes and woodworking methods.
• Expertise in CNC machine operation, carpentry, finishing, and assembly procedures.
• Ability to interpret technical blueprints and Bills of Quantities.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams effectively.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with MS Office and ERP systems for reporting and operational tracking.
• High emphasis on quality assurance, safety compliance, and adherence to deadlines.
