About the Role

Midlands State University is inviting qualified and experienced individuals to fill three part-time Procurement Specialist positions within their Procurement Management Unit based in Gweru, Midlands Province, Zimbabwe. These roles report directly to the Procurement Manager and involve responsibility for managing procurement tasks within designated categories or campuses.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a first degree in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management is required.
  • A Master's degree in the same field is an advantage.
  • Holding a professional qualification such as CIPS is mandatory.
  • At least three years of relevant experience are necessary.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities are essential.
  • Teamwork skills and the ability to function well within a group are important.
  • High attention to detail when executing tasks is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promptly processing purchase requisitions for assigned procurement categories or campuses.
  • Supervising Procurement Officers within the assigned categories.
  • Documenting minutes for procurement meetings relating to procurements exempted under the PPDPA Act.
  • Leading Procurement Management Unit activities at campuses outside Gweru, where applicable.
  • Generating category-specific procurement reports periodically and upon request.
  • Reviewing cost comparison schedules before forwarding them to the Procurement Manager for approval.
  • Performing any other tasks delegated by the Procurement Manager.
