Job Overview
Erie 1 BOCES invites applications for a probationary full-time Science Teacher position at Grand Island High School. The role operates from 7:25 am to 2:25 pm starting September 1, 2026. The salary ranges from $49,447 for candidates with a Bachelor's degree (Step 1) to $52,190 for those with a Master's degree (Step 1) under the GITA contract.
Qualifications and Skills
- Applicants must possess New York State Teacher Certification in Earth Science 7-12, Chemistry 7-12, or Biology 7-12; preference is given to those with dual certification in two or more sciences.
- Prior experience teaching high school Biology and/or Earth & Space Science is required.
- Familiarity with New York State Science Learning Standards is necessary.
- Capability to apply both authentic and traditional assessments to tailor instruction and enhance student achievement.
- Demonstrated academic success at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
- Strong work ethic aligned with the school’s mission and vision.
- Effective written and oral communication abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate within a team environment.
- Positive classroom management skills with evidence of effectiveness.
Preferred qualifications include experience in high school science curriculum development and expertise in data-driven instruction and academic intervention services focused on science.
