Private Investigator

About the Role

Private Solutions Inc., based in Greenwood, SC, is seeking experienced Private Investigators to join their team as independent contractors. Positions require travel across South Carolina with daily driving involved. Investigators work in pairs conducting surveillance operations related to workers' compensation and insurance investigations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform both mobile and fixed-location surveillance alongside a partner, capturing stable, time-and-date stamped video evidence.
• Collaborate closely with a teammate to plan routes, positions, and coverage to effectively meet case goals while maintaining safety.
• Keep thorough field notes and produce clear, factual reports on schedule.
• Strictly follow case directives, maintain confidentiality, and preserve the evidence chain of custody.
• Regularly update operations personnel on case progress and findings, adhering to legal and company standards.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Former or retired law enforcement or government investigators such as FBI, police, sheriff’s office, or federal agencies are highly encouraged to apply.
• Experience in surveillance, workers’ compensation claims, Special Investigations Units (SIU), or insurance investigations is advantageous.
• South Carolina Private Investigator license is preferred; however, assistance is available for candidates seeking licensure.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record, and comfortable with extensive travel and long periods behind the wheel.
• Competence with video equipment and basic reporting software is essential.
• Excellent observation, judgment, discretion, and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to handle and transport equipment and to work in various weather conditions.
• Flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts as required.

Contractor Requirements

• Candidates must own and maintain a reliable vehicle suitable for surveillance.
• Must supply personal surveillance gear including video camera equipment and necessary accessories.
• Possession of a smartphone and computer access for reporting and communications is mandatory.
• 1099 contractors are responsible for their own taxes and insurance.

Compensation and Benefits

• Training is paid at a rate of $20 per hour.
• After training, investigators earn $25 per hour with opportunities for merit increases; mileage reimbursed separately at $0.67 per mile.
• Company provides comprehensive training on investigative methods, documentation standards, and operational protocols.
• Standard operating procedures and reporting templates are supplied, with ongoing support from headquarters.
