Position Summary
The Pre-Approval Specialist will deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring loan files meet quality standards and conform to service level agreements. Key responsibilities involve gathering and verifying borrower documents essential for underwriting, coordinating with borrowers, third-party vendors, and loan officers to facilitate initial loan approvals.
Core Responsibilities
- Engage directly with borrowers and external vendors to collect and validate required documents such as income statements, employment verification, tax transcripts, financial and bank statements, and updates for FHA and VA cases
- Ensure vendor orders are executed and returned correctly, including verifying receipt and documentation of invoices
- Review all loan file materials for completeness and accuracy prior to underwriting submission
- Prepare and hand over fully documented loan files ready for underwriting review
- Complete all mandatory loan submission checklists
- Manage loan pipeline efficiently while adhering to allotted processing times
- Maintain thorough documentation of all loan application communications within the conversation log
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support team operations
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum one year of professional experience in the mortgage industry
- Proficient in income calculation and credit report analysis
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with borrowers
- Familiarity with mortgage guidelines and regulations
- Advanced math and analytical capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently
- Flexibility to work variable hours and overtime when necessary
- Competency in Microsoft Windows and Google Suite applications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous mortgage experience highly desirable
