About the Role
Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver based at Cirencester Delivery Office (GL7 1AA). This is a permanent, full-time position with a 37-hour workweek scheduled across 5 days within a 7-day period, working shifts between 07:00 and 19:00. You'll deliver letters and parcels either on foot or by van, primarily serving the Cirencester area with some Sunday work required at the Stroud Delivery Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort mail and parcels at the delivery office before dispatch.
- Deliver letters and parcels across assigned routes using a Royal Mail van and by walking.
- Engage positively with customers to foster community connections.
- Work outdoors under all weather conditions.
Role Features
- Stay physically active through walking long distances (up to 12 miles per day).
- Drive a Royal Mail van daily, ensuring safe operation.
- Manage time effectively during busy and time-sensitive periods, especially peak seasons.
Candidate Profile
- Hold a full manual UK driving license with no more than 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address.
- Capable of passing a driving assessment and comfortable operating a Royal Mail van.
- Physically fit to carry mailbags weighing 10kg or more, walk long distances, and navigate stairs or hills.
- Reliable, self-motivated with strong organizational skills and resilience to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with pride in delivering excellent service independently and outdoors.

Additional Information
Candidates do not need to submit a CV. The hiring process includes an online test followed by an interview with a manager. Roles are classified as full-time for 35-37 hours per week but contracts under 37 hours are considered part-time. As a Postie, you are responsible for the secure delivery of all items assigned on your routes, including election materials and specific items like food or alcohol, in compliance with Royal Mail standards.
