About the Role
We are seeking a driven POS Specialist to join our team and provide expert knowledge and support for our Point of Sale systems integral to our Retail and Hospitality IT infrastructure. Our fast-growing business operates 24/7 across retail, food, and forecourt outlets where seamless POS, network connectivity, and associated business applications are critical for uninterrupted service. This role will serve as the internal expert coordinating with multiple third-party technology providers to ensure our systems operate optimally and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary resource for POS systems expertise, assisting managers to maximize system usage and identifying areas for enhancement.
- Manage service level agreements with third-party IT and business systems vendors, and serve as the escalation contact for site IT and system issues.
- Perform audits of POS system usage, generate reports, analyze performance, and suggest improvements for efficiency.
- Oversee IT asset management, tracking hardware and software licenses.
- Collaborate with IT partners to conduct vulnerability scans, penetration tests, failover drills, and disaster recovery exercises ensuring business continuity.
- Engage with stakeholders across operational and executive levels to anticipate challenges, identify root causes, and prevent reoccurrence of issues by promoting optimal use of technology.
- Support selection, deployment, testing, integration, and evolution of new business systems and applications.
- Evaluate and assist users in adopting Microsoft 365 collaboration tools like Outlook, Teams, Forms, SharePoint, and OneDrive to enhance efficiency.
- Provide recommendations to optimize systems, draft requirement specifications, and manage system upgrades and installations end to end.
Candidate Profile and Skills
- Experience working with POS systems such as CBE Futatill and Pixel Point.
- Fast learner with a strong interest in leveraging technology for business process improvements.
- Commercial awareness and aptitude with numbers.
- User-focused with strong ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
- Proficient problem solver capable of performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
- Organized and methodical, following procedures and documenting effectively with project management skills.
- Self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience coordinating with third-party partners to resolve issues swiftly and minimize business disruption.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 collaboration tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with a friendly and professional demeanour.
- Detail-oriented with excellent multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Collaborative and open to learning from colleagues, eager to embrace new technologies.
- Possession of a full driving licence and availability for occasional after-hours or weekend work.
Qualifications and Technical Expertise
- Degree or diploma in Business & Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years in roles involving business information systems, POS system analysis, integration, or support.
- Foundational knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, and VPN.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and backup solutions.
