Role Overview
The Plant Manager will oversee the complete operational management of the Tullamarine plant in Gladstone Park, Victoria. This includes responsibility for manufacturing effectiveness, safety compliance, quality assurance, cost control, and leading the workforce. The position involves driving continuous operational improvements and regional transformation efforts, guaranteeing excellent service standards for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all site operations ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives targeting productivity, cost efficiency, quality, and customer service excellence.
- Manage financial objectives including operational budgets and cost per unit metrics.
- Enhance quality control systems and minimize customer claims.
- Develop and lead a motivated, high-performing team.
- Support Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and synchronize supply chain operations.
- Ensure dependable and efficient production planning and execution processes.
Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership in manufacturing environments such as extrusion or thermoforming preferred.
- Successful track record in managing teams and mentoring frontline leadership.
- Strong expertise in safety leadership and driving cultural change.
- Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma.
- Capability to effectively balance workforce management, performance delivery, and process optimization.
- Hands-on leader who is approachable and actively engaged on-site.
- Exemplifies leadership by setting safety and behavioral standards.
- Excellent communication skills with influence across different organizational levels.
- Pragmatic, well-organized, and focused on actionable outcomes.
- Ability to build trust and ensure accountability within teams.
- Preferably holds tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering, or Supply Chain disciplines.
