Overview

Laverty Pathology, a division of Healius, is seeking a dedicated Pathology Collector in Berowra Heights, NSW. This full-time role involves both onsite and remote responsibilities from Monday to Friday (7:00am-4:30pm) including weekend shifts (7:00am-1:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays). As part of a leading Australian healthcare organisation committed to delivering accessible and affordable health services, you will play a critical role in patient care by collecting various biological samples accurately and compassionately.

Primary Duties

  • Collect blood and non-blood samples ensuring precision and patient comfort
  • Provide a warm, professional, and reassuring environment for patients
  • Properly prepare and package specimens in accordance with established protocols for transportation
  • Maintain meticulous records and adhere strictly to operational procedures
  • Contribute to efficient daily functioning of the collection site

Candidate Profile

The position suits individuals who are empathetic and eager to support others, even if they have no prior pathology experience. Candidates from backgrounds including aged care, healthcare support, nursing, or customer service roles where care and communication are paramount are especially encouraged.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Prior pathology collection experience and Certificate III in Pathology Collection are advantageous but not mandatory
  • Relevant healthcare experience or extensive customer-facing background
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Working With Children Check
  • Must provide proof of immunisation including Hepatitis B status

Training

The successful candidate will undergo a six-week paid training program through Healius Academy, requiring full-time hours initially and a minimum of 25 hours weekly thereafter. This training prepares individuals comprehensively for the collection duties and may be accelerated based on previous experience.
