Passenger Assistant

Overview

Dorset Travel manages transportation services for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset and beyond, including support for mainstream students, childcare, and adults. There is an opening for a regular Passenger Assistant based in the Portland or Wyke area, working approximately 25 hours each week during school terms. The hourly pay starts at 13.05.

Role Responsibilities

The Passenger Assistant will provide essential support to children and young people with additional needs during their commute to and from home and school, ensuring a safe environment throughout the journey. This position specifically involves assisting young individuals attending Mountjoy School, which requires specialized midazolam training. The role demands availability during school start and finish times in the morning and afternoon.

Candidate Requirements

• Understanding of moderate to complex learning disabilities.
• Familiarity with safeguarding protocols for children.
• Ability to identify hazards and follow reporting procedures.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Physical capability to perform duties including running, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and kneeling as part of the care required.
