Position Overview
Colorado State University Global invites applications for a Part-Time Faculty member to teach in the General Education Communications program. Reporting to the Provost, Program Manager, and Faculty Operations Specialist, the instructor will ensure courses are delivered effectively in compliance with university, accreditation, and state standards, actively contributing to the institution's educational mission. Teaching responsibilities include conducting 8-week online courses via the Canvas learning management system, promoting active student engagement, providing detailed feedback, and supporting student retention strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive quality reviews prior to course commencement.
- Engage actively and responsively with students throughout the course duration.
- Deliver courses as structured through Canvas LMS with weekly updates and announcements.
- Maintain timely and accurate grade reporting and adhere to faculty engagement standards through discussion boards and assessment feedback.
- Provide detailed, individualized feedback on student assignments consistent with university guidelines.
- Respond promptly to communications from students, program directors, and university personnel.
- Facilitate live sessions as required, report course issues, and contribute feedback on course content relevancy.
- Support retention initiatives by identifying and reporting disengaged students to the Academic Success Office.
- Participate in assessment activities for course and program improvement.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with all related policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Contribute positively by suggesting improvements and embracing continuous learning.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a terminal degree in Communication, Organizational Communication, Strategic Communication, or Public Relations.
- Completion of 18 graduate credit hours within the program discipline.
- Minimum of three years industry experience in related fields.
- At least two years teaching experience in online higher education.
- Proficiency with Blackboard and Canvas learning management systems.

Physical and Work Conditions
- Frequent activities: standing, walking, speaking, hearing, and hand use.
- Occasional sitting, reaching, and ability to spend extended periods in front of a computer.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 15 pounds occasionally.
Additional Information
CSU Global courses run for 8 weeks and appointments are term-based, contingent on enrollment. Employment is part-time and temporary. Hourly compensation ranges from $32 to $37 depending on teaching load and qualifications, including retirement contributions. Background checks and official transcript submissions are mandated prior to employment. The hiring process includes pre-recorded and live video interviews followed by an unpaid 3-week FCC100 training course. Reasonable accommodations are available under applicable laws.
