About PowerLines
PowerLines is a national nonprofit organization committed to modernizing the utility regulatory framework in the United States to reduce energy costs and stimulate economic growth. It focuses on state public utilities commissions (PUCs), important bodies regulating utility spending exceeding $200 billion annually and influencing energy infrastructure and pricing.
Utility rate increases have become a pressing economic and political concern nationwide. In early 2025, requests for utility rate hikes reached $29 billion, setting an unprecedented record and more than doubling previous figures. Recognized on the 2025 TIME100 Next list, PowerLines has established itself as a leader shaping national dialogue on energy issues, featured across major media outlets.
