Role Overview
Siemens seeks a skilled and proactive Operational Procurement Buyer to join the electronic products division. This role focuses on managing procurement operations to ensure a seamless supply chain process, including supplier communication, material tracking, and timely delivery aligned with production needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate purchase orders derived from Material Requirements Planning and inventory restocking using SAP.
- Communicate material availability updates to production planning, product management, and related stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier partnerships; lead supplier negotiations to align with company standards.
- Track and evaluate supplier performance metrics such as delivery timeliness, quality standards, and responsiveness, applying corrective measures where necessary.
- Coordinate with internal teams—engineering, production, quality assurance, and R&D—to fulfill material requirements promptly.
- Set and prioritize urgent procurement needs in collaboration with shipping agencies, logistics partners, and customs officials.
- Work with quality control teams to manage returned goods and secure credits.
- Implement procurement systems and tools to enhance process efficiency.
- Research market shifts, assess suppliers, and seek cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing.
- Define and track procurement KPIs to measure functional effectiveness.
- Keep abreast of industry developments and technological updates related to procurement of electronic products.
Candidate Profile
- Graduate or postgraduate degree in logistics, supply chain management, or mechanical engineering.
- Minimum five years of procurement experience, ideally within the electronic products sector.
- Strong comprehension of procurement principles, with emphasis on electronic components and materials.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Practical experience with SAP PP/MM modules and database systems is essential.
- Detail-focused with capability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to resolve issues swiftly and make informed decisions.
Technical Competencies
- Basic knowledge of business economics is advantageous.
- Proficient in ERP systems, particularly SAP.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Work Location and Travel
This position is primarily located in Goa, India. Occasional travel to other Indian locations will be required to support business operations and collaborate with diverse teams impacting city-scale projects.
