Job Overview

This role focuses on the execution and upkeep of Process Safety Management (PSM) to guarantee secure functioning of manufacturing plants. The officer will lead hazard identification exercises, risk assessments, HAZOP analyses, incident probes, and Management of Change (MOC) reviews. Ensuring adherence to all relevant safety laws, internal policies, and industry mandates is essential. The position involves orchestrating process safety audits, emergency preparedness strategies, and training sessions for enhancing safety awareness among employees. Ongoing monitoring of key process safety metrics is required to spot risks early and to suggest corrective and preventive measures that contribute to accident prevention and enhancement of safety performance. The role also requires maintaining comprehensive documentation and aiding in continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and sustain Process Safety Management systems effectively across operations.
• Carry out process hazard analyses, HAZOP, risk evaluations, and safety reviews to identify potential dangers.
• Keep a close watch on process safety critical parameters ensuring compliance with established safety standards.
• Investigate incidents and near misses related to process safety, proposing solutions to mitigate recurrence.
• Oversee Management of Change activities, ensuring risks are thoroughly assessed.
• Contribute to emergency response planning including conducting drills and mock exercises.
• Manage compliance with safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and company policies consistently.
• Coordinate safety audits and ensure timely closure of observations and action items.
• Conduct process safety training and promote awareness programs among employees and contractors.
• Maintain all necessary process safety documentation and records diligently.

Additional Responsibilities

• Drive continuous enhancement of PSM initiatives in the manufacturing environment.
• Engage in HAZOP, What-If, and further risk assessment studies as part of safety strategy development.
• Monitor and review ongoing MOC activities ensuring safety criteria are met.
• Assist in investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and deviations to identify root causes.
• Track and ensure closure of all process safety corrective actions within defined timeframes.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to proactively identify hazards and risks.
• Support the scheduling and execution of safety-critical equipment inspections and tests.
• Coordinate and document training programs targeted at both employees and contractors relating to process safety.

Educational Qualification

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (B.Tech or B.E.) is required for this position.

Experience

Candidates should have between 2 to 4 years of relevant experience working in process safety or a similar environment handling safety management in manufacturing.
