Occupational Therapy Team Lead - Internal Position

Position Overview

This internal vacancy at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is for a Team Lead in Occupational Therapy focused on community neurological long-term condition management. The role involves both maintaining a varied caseload of specialist patients and providing clinical and professional leadership to occupational therapy staff. The post holder will spearhead modernising OT practices, shape service planning, development and evaluation, and promote integration with multidisciplinary pathways and other occupational therapy services across inpatient, community, reablement, and social care sectors.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership for OT staff managing patients with long term neurological conditions.
• Deliver effective, client-centered OT interventions ensuring compassionate, safe, and quality care aligned with organisational standards.
• Act as a clinical expert, working directly with patients in their homes.
• Lead on innovations and improvements within the OT service to enhance outcomes and efficiency.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive patient pathways.
• Support the professional development of team members and contribute to wider service initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Completion of at least one level 7 module or equivalent post-registration linked to practice.
• Accredited practice placement educator.
• Certificate in Leadership and/or Management.
• Desirable: Membership of relevant College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section.
• Extensive OT clinical experience, including significant senior level practice and involvement in innovative clinical work.
• Experience leading changes in OT clinical practice is essential.
• Line management experience is considered a plus.

Additional Information

Fluency in Welsh is desirable but not mandatory; applications in Welsh will be given equal consideration. The position is fixed-term for 22 months and only open to current employees of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
