Role overview
OfficeMax New Zealand is looking for a New Business Representative in Auckland who thrives on competition and enjoys creating results through phone-based sales. This position is focused on generating new business opportunities, building customer relationships, and growing sales for a brand with a wide range of workplace solutions.
In this role, you will contact prospective business customers, learn what their workplaces need, and show them how OfficeMax can help save time and money. The offering goes far beyond stationery and includes thousands of products and solutions such as coffee, toilet paper, safety equipment, branding, furniture, and technology.
You will report to the National Sales Manager - New Business and work with a supportive team that will help you learn, improve, and shape the role in a way that suits your strengths.
Key responsibilities
- Reach out proactively to businesses, identify potential customers, and convert prospects into new B2B accounts; comfort with cold calling is essential.
- Deliver a strong customer experience throughout the sales cycle by developing a solid understanding of OfficeMax products and solutions.
- Generate fresh leads and continue building opportunity pipelines through active prospecting.
- Use upselling and cross-selling to expand account value and uncover additional sales possibilities.
- Keep a healthy pipeline of opportunities so sales and gross profit goals can be met consistently.
- Record customer details, sales activity, and pipeline progress accurately in the CRM system.
What you should bring
OfficeMax is seeking someone with a competitive mindset, strong initiative, and the confidence to create their own momentum. Prior new business sales experience is preferred, along with a proven track record of winning customers and meeting targets. The ideal candidate can plan their day effectively, handle negotiations well, and work comfortably in a matrix-style team environment.
Experience using ERP and CRM platforms is an advantage, especially Salesforce, Pronto, and Seismic. Strong communication skills, adaptability, and an engaging interpersonal style are also important.
