Role Overview
The Mold Designer is tasked with ensuring precise functionality, fit, and timely delivery of molds that conform to customer expectations and internal manufacturing standards. This position requires direct communication with clients and ongoing coordination with internal departments. The role adheres to all relevant provincial and federal laws, company policies, health and safety standards, and ISO quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer part data to identify molding issues and suggest design modifications for improved outcomes.
- Create designs from feasibility stages through concept, preliminary, and final phases in collaboration with surface modelers.
- Comply with internal and customer-specific mold standards and procedural requirements.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) using software to facilitate purchasing processes.
- Participate in and present mold designs during internal and customer meetings.
- Coordinate with manifold suppliers for design approval and integration.
- Foster a positive corporate culture by promoting trust, teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma from a community college in Automotive Product Design or Professional & Trades discipline.
- Minimum two years’ experience as a Mold Designer in a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Experienced with plastic injection molding processes.
- Preferred experience with assembly-based CAD software such as NX or Catia.
- Strong knowledge of arithmetic and geometry and their practical applications.
- Problem-solving aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
- Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
- Adaptability and a positive approach to change.

Compensation
The hourly wage range is between 28 and 35 dollars.
