Job Overview and Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for both electrical and mechanical maintenance of site machinery, focusing on planned and preventive tasks to ensure peak operational efficiency. Core duties include:
- Testing equipment to assess electrical and mechanical functionality
- Troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC)
- Installing and assembling machinery components
- Maintaining and repairing machinery involving both electrical and mechanical aspects to maximize production line reliability
- Conducting preventive maintenance inspections
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- Performing welding and fabrication activities
- Following strict safety protocols in all tasks
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed Matric certificate and N5-N6 technical qualifications
- Certified Millwright Trade Test holder
- Minimum of five years' relevant maintenance experience within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry
- Strong technical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering breakdowns
- Team-oriented approach to work
- Preferably holds or willing to acquire a wireman’s license
- Experience with PLCs and automation systems
- Ability to maintain machinery in optimal working condition
- Skilled in root cause analysis of plant breakdowns and utilizing reliability methodologies
- Flexibility to work off-shifts, weekends, and standby duties, including use of own vehicle
