About PSC Biotech
PSC Biotech is a biotech consultancy established in 1996 and based in Pomona, California, with operations across Ireland, India, Singapore, Australia, and the United States. The company supports clients in more than 23 countries through cloud-based quality management and regulatory inspection software, along with pharmaceutical contract manufacturing and metrology services.
The organisation positions itself as a career-building environment for professionals in pharma and biotech, offering exposure to major pharmaceutical client sites and a multicultural workplace.
Employee value proposition
PSC Biotech places strong emphasis on employee development, with learning and development support, in-house training, mentorship, and ongoing guidance aimed at helping employees progress in their careers. The team is expected to deliver high-quality outcomes, meet timelines, control costs, and maintain scalable business deliverables.
Role overview
This onsite, day-based Microbiology Analyst role supports laboratory operations and the wider microbiology lab function. The position works closely with the Enabling Technology and Engineering teams, as well as the Analytical group, to support the use of process automation knowledge and encourage adoption of Process Analytical Technology (PAT). The role also partners with Operations to support facility fit and resource flexibility.
Key responsibilities
The analyst will help maintain day-to-day laboratory operations, assist with equipment qualification activities, prepare and maintain laboratory documentation, and contribute to lab and process setup. The role includes support for routine lab activities such as environmental monitoring, facility testing, method verification, troubleshooting, and execution of laboratory studies when needed.
Additional duties include reviewing, trending, and reporting lab data; supporting batch data preparation; compiling quarterly and annual raw-data reports; managing laboratory stock; and placing orders for consumables. The position also requires overseeing routine cleaning of laboratory equipment, maintaining housekeeping standards, identifying improvement opportunities, responding to standard partner and client requests, participating in meetings and audits, supporting site safety practices, and contributing to testing and innovation efforts. The role may occasionally require out-of-hours support in exceptional circumstances.
Requirements
Applicants should hold a degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related equivalent field, along with some industrial experience. A minimum of 1 year of experience in a relevant industry is required. The role calls for a collaborative approach, the ability to work independently when needed, logical thinking, and a proactive mindset under pressure.
Candidates should have familiarity with biologics manufacturing and microbiological testing methods, along with knowledge of laboratory systems such as LIMS, e-logs, MODA, and electronic notebooks. A strong understanding of GMP is expected, and familiarity with USP, EP, and JP requirements is also important. Experience in pharmaceutical formulation development or clinical supplies manufacturing would be an advantage, though it is not essential.
Working conditions
This is an onsite role based on a day shift pattern. The successful candidate should be flexible enough to support changing business needs, including infrequent testing support outside normal hours when exceptional circumstances arise.
Development and teamwork
The role involves active participation in functional and cross-functional meetings, support for audits, timely completion of training, and coaching support for other team members. A strong focus is placed on team effectiveness, respectful collaboration, and contributing positively to a diverse workplace.
