Role overview
Arup is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Singapore to contribute to consultancy work through analysis, modelling, research, and design. The position includes a structured development path intended to build technical capability and professional growth.
What you will do
- Deliver concept and detailed mechanical design for a variety of projects, taking ownership as the lead discipline engineer and producing calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Coordinate design activities, workflows, and technical standards within the MEP team, while keeping design methods, review processes, reference materials, and software tools current and correctly applied.
- Carry out technical reviews of MEP projects, as well as MEP inputs to other projects, at appropriate stages to confirm the project approach and deliverables are sound.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with industry contacts, clients, government bodies, sub-consultants, and construction contractors connected to the team’s work.
- Support or prepare proposals and submissions, and help negotiate contracts within the MEP team’s operating framework.
What you should bring
- A recognized tertiary qualification, specifically a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 3 years of detailed mechanical design experience gained in an engineering consultancy.
- Membership in relevant professional institutions or peer bodies, or substantial progress toward eligibility for membership.
- Practical understanding of applicable local and international legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, along with solid written reporting ability.
