Role Overview
We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our FRC team within the Sulzer Pumps division in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. This full-time, onsite position focuses on elevating our equipment design capabilities through advanced modeling and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D layouts and comprehensive drawing sets for equipment installation and construction using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Create design concepts, sketches, and models to facilitate approvals.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams during manufacturing phases.
- Support the Applications Team by producing sales-related equipment and layout drawings.
- Interpret and prepare engineering designs, drawings, and specifications associated with our equipment.
- Undertake additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, including SolidWorks PDM or similar software.
- Experience in SolidWorks modeling, sheet metal design, and pipe routing.
- Knowledge of data management and revision control processes.
- Competency in MS Office applications, particularly formulas, formatting, and Outlook.
- Experience with sheet metal design and welding is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Revit for drafting and pre-construction drawings is a plus.
- Understanding of waste management or water treatment equipment/industry is beneficial.
- Willingness to undergo occasional criminal record and drug testing for US clients.
Education and Eligibility
Candidates should hold a post-secondary degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology/technician, drafting, mechanical design, or a related field. A valid Canadian passport and the ability to travel to the United States are essential.
Location
The role is based in Whitby, Ontario, with convenient access to Highway 401.
