Position Overview

This entry-level Maintenance Technician role involves performing fundamental repairs and maintenance for guest rooms, public areas, offices, service zones, and outdoor grounds within hotels and conference centers. The technician will handle tasks related to painting, light mechanical and plumbing issues, minor electronic troubleshooting, furniture movement, and basic safety inspections. The role also involves close adherence to OSHA standards and Foundation safety policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety regulations and workplace policies.
• Engage in hands-on training under the guidance of experienced maintenance personnel.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests covering HVAC systems, plumbing, ceilings, walls, flooring, pools, fountains, and televisions, including thermostat programming and basic cleaning.
• Seek help when necessary to complete repairs correctly.
• Conduct minor fixes such as cleaning sliding door tracks, adjusting window latches, touch-ups on furniture and partitions.
• Assist with instructed demolition and repair drywall scratches and dents.
• Apply paint touch-ups or full repainting following Benjamin Moore standards and Organizational guidelines.
• Replace ceiling tiles and perform routine preventative maintenance including lubricating hinges, cleaning filters, and replacing light bulbs.
• Utilize ladders, scaffolds, and lifts safely during tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards for pools and fountains.
• Operate hand trucks, powered lifts, and dollies to relocate furniture, equipment, or materials.
• Identify and report safety or operational issues in mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and architectural systems, addressing hazards immediately.
• Provide scheduled 24-hour on-call support, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Perform any additional duties such as snow shoveling and ice treatment during adverse weather to maintain safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in hotel maintenance, demonstrating abilities in painting, light mechanical, plumbing, and electronic device troubleshooting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient or willing to learn computer maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing schematics.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license with an acceptable driving record per Foundation standards.
• Must provide a 5-year Motor Vehicle Record before starting employment.
• Applicants must be at least 21 years old and meet moving violation criteria including limits on recent violations and serious offences.
• Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and working safely at heights above 30 feet using ladders, lifts, and scaffolds.
• Flexibility to work shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs.
• Participation in a monthly departmental safety program is mandatory.

Preferred Credentials

• Certification in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, HVAC, or Electrical trades.
• Graduation from a technical trade school or ongoing pursuit of a maintenance-related career.
