Role Overview
Amentum is seeking a full-time Maintenance Service Person to join their team based in Alice Springs. This role reports directly to the Senior Maintenance Officer and involves undertaking maintenance, repairs, and renovations across multiple trades including plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping, reticulation, and plastering for residential properties within Alice Springs.
Work Schedule
The position operates Monday through Thursday from 07:30 to 16:00 and Fridays from 07:30 to 13:30, amounting to a 38-hour workweek.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute building maintenance tasks following environmental and safety protocols to support the organization's contract requirements.
- Conduct grounds maintenance activities as needed.
- Operate various plant and machinery such as skid steer, excavator, dingo, and crane truck when required.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks within the individual’s qualifications and certifications.
- Maintain safe and professional work practices at all times.
- Promptly report any incidents to management.
- Utilize computer systems to log and plan work activities.
- Provide assistance in other facility and maintenance areas when requested.
- Promote and uphold health and safety standards and compliance at worksites and within the workplace.
- Fulfill additional duties assigned by the Vesta Management Team.
Candidate Profile
- At least 12 months of experience in a similar maintenance role.
- Previous exposure to carpentry, electrical, or plumbing trades is highly desirable.
- Proficient knowledge and skill in operating hand and powered tools such as grinders, drills, saws, planers, routers, radial arm saws, and measurement instruments.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to identify problems, analyze situations, and devise effective solutions.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Certification or experience in Working at Heights.
- Possession of a forklift license and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification is advantageous.
- CPR and First Aid certifications are beneficial.
- Must hold a current driver’s license.
- Willingness to undergo Background Checks, Police Clearance, Medical evaluations including Drug and Alcohol testing.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The job entails working in the typically hot climate of Alice Springs and involves physical tasks such as patching and painting walls, housing repairs, replacing outdoor taps, lawn upgrades, and door replacements.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 12 months relevant experience.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Adherence to safe work practices and ability to report unsafe conditions promptly.
- Continuous compliance with environmental, health, and safety guidelines as outlined in the JDFPG Handbook.
- Right and responsibility to stop any unsafe work (‘Red-Carding’ a job).
Security Clearance
Employment requires obtaining and maintaining an NV-1 Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) and passing medical clearance appropriate to the role.
