Role Overview

This position is for a Mainframe Quality Engineer with 6 to 9 years of experience in software testing and quality engineering. The role combines mainframe validation, automation, web UI testing, and API checks, along with hands-on work across backend data, batch outputs, and CI/CD pipelines.

Technical Skills Needed

• Strong experience in software testing or quality engineering, ideally within the 6 to 9 year range.
• Practical knowledge of mainframe testing, including CICS screens, VSAM files, JCL, DB2, and SPUFI.
• Ability to validate web UI flows and RESTful web services using automation.
• Experience analyzing batch job results and backend data in DB2 and VSAM.
• Working knowledge of Jenkins and GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid SQL skills for data validation and analysis.
• Familiarity with QE best practices such as test suite management, traceability, and defect lifecycle handling.
• Hands-on programming ability in Java, plus exposure to tools such as Jegacy, Playwright, and similar frameworks.
• Bonus exposure to event-based architecture validation using automation.
• Experience with Playwright and Karate is considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Convert business and system requirements into test strategies, test scenarios, and test plans.
• Create, document, improve, and maintain efficient automated test scripts.
• Provide rotational QE support for production and pre-production environments when on call.
• Follow engineering standards while building and maintaining the automation framework.
• Apply BDD concepts to assess and validate software solutions.
• Write accurate, maintainable automation code and supporting utilities.
• Track, measure, and report key QE metrics.
• Perform accessibility checks on web pages.
• Contribute to Quality Engineering chapter-level initiatives.
• Work with technical teammates to improve processes, standards, and best practices.
• Identify ways to make the automation platform easier to maintain.

The role is based in Bangalore Rural, India, with location references also mentioning Bangalore and Chennai.
