Role Overview

We seek a Machine Learning Engineer to join our Perception division in Palo Alto, CA. This hybrid role focuses on enhancing our drone navigation capabilities by applying deep learning. Rather than isolated model training, you will leverage extensive sensor data from thousands of flight hours, deploying improvements to a vast autonomous fleet that serves thousands every day. Ideal candidates are experienced, problem solvers who create pragmatic and elegant ML solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust machine learning systems for both backend processing and real-time, resource-limited environments on drones.
• Maintain and enhance current ML models and infrastructure, contributing expertise to the team.
• Work cross-functionally with hardware, software, and flight test teams to transform features from initial concepts to production-ready flight code.

Desired Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional experience in machine learning, deep learning, or computer vision, especially in robotics or autonomous technologies.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields, alternatively 2 years of relevant work experience within these disciplines.
• Strong skills in software design and coding abilities.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C++.
• Experience with ML frameworks like JAX, PyTorch, or TensorFlow, including pipeline development for training, inference, and validation.
• Working knowledge of contemporary computer vision architectures such as CNNs and Transformers.
• Expertise in one or more areas: multi-view geometry and 3D reconstruction, monocular or stereo depth estimation, object detection and localization, semantic segmentation, local and global feature extraction, or vision foundation models (VLMs, VLAs).
• Capability to devise and implement straightforward yet well-thought-out solutions addressing critical business challenges.

Compensation

The role offers a base annual salary between 190,000 and 202,000 USD, plus performance bonuses, equity stakes, and benefits. Salary specifics depend on role, seniority, and location.
