Logistics & Demand Planning Manager

Position Overview

ComtecNova North America is looking for a Logistics & Demand Planning Manager based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. This full-time role is responsible for overseeing demand forecasting, inventory management, inbound logistics, warehouse coordination, and ensuring efficient customer deliveries throughout North America. The role acts as a vital liaison among Sales, Product Management, Finance, Customer Service, warehouses, suppliers, and the company’s global manufacturing teams.

Primary Duties

• Lead the monthly demand planning covering various product categories, customers, channels, and regions.
• Produce rolling sales forecasts considering historical data, customer input, pipeline activities, seasonal trends, promotions, new product launches, and market conditions.
• Collaborate closely with Sales and Product Management to confirm forecast assumptions and detect changes in customer demand.
• Evaluate forecast accuracy and bias, taking corrective measures as needed.
• Present demand, inventory, supply, and risk scenarios during monthly Sales and Operations Planning meetings.
• Convert sales forecasts into purchase and replenishment requirements.

• Define inventory goals including safety stock levels, reorder points, and stocking methods.
• Monitor inventory metrics such as availability, turns, days of inventory on hand, backorders, excess, and obsolete stock.
• Implement strategies to reduce slow-moving and excess inventory.
• Balance service levels with working capital and inventory reduction objectives.
• Coordinate inventory plans for new product introductions, product transitions, phase-outs, and end-of-life items.
• Work with Finance to verify accuracy of inventory reserves and reporting.
• Regularly review individual SKUs and recommend purchasing actions, transfers, substitutions, or liquidations.

• Manage inbound shipments from domestic and international suppliers to North American warehouses.
• Coordinate various transport modes such as ocean, air, parcel, and ground, optimizing cost, lead time, and reliability.
• Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, warehouses, and 3PL providers.
• Track shipment progress and proactively communicate any delays or risks.
• Ensure accuracy in shipping documents, customs forms, tariff classifications, and import records.
• Support compliance with applicable import/export, customs, and transportation regulations.
• Review freight invoices and transportation expenses and evaluate logistics service performance.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities by consolidating shipments, improving routing, and minimizing expedited freight.

• Coordinate purchasing and delivery schedules in conjunction with global manufacturing and supply chain teams.
• Monitor supplier lead times, production plans, order confirmations, and shipment commitments.
• Address issues such as material shortages, capacity constraints, quality concerns, and delivery risks.
• Maintain accurate purchase order scheduling and supply planning data in ERP systems.
• Assist in supplier performance evaluations focused on delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost.
• Develop contingency plans for critical products and potential supply interruptions.

• Work closely with Customer Service and Sales to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders.
• Monitor open orders, backorders, overdue orders, fill rates, and delivery commitments.
• Prioritize inventory allocation based on customer and business needs.
• Communicate product availability and realistic delivery estimations to stakeholders.
• Help resolve shipping discrepancies, freight claims, damaged goods, and warehouse challenges.
• Continuously improve order-to-delivery workflows and customer service effectiveness.

• Ensure data accuracy for demand, supply, purchasing, inventory, and logistics within ERP systems.
• Create dashboards and reports on forecast accuracy, inventory status, supplier delivery, freight expenses, fill rates, and backorders.
• Address data quality problems impacting planning and execution processes.
• Standardize procedures across demand planning, purchasing, logistics, and inventory management.
• Support ERP enhancements, warehouse transitions, and supply chain technology projects.
• Document control processes, approvals, and assigned duties.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing service, controlling costs, reducing inventory, and boosting operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum five years' experience in demand planning, supply planning, logistics, inventory management, or supply chain operations.
• Background in product-based businesses involving physical inventory and international suppliers.
• Strong skills in forecasting, data analysis, inventory planning, and problem solving.
• Experience managing relationships with freight forwarders, warehouses, carriers, customs brokers, or third-party logistics services.
• Thorough knowledge of purchasing, lead times, safety stock, inventory turnover, landed cost, and order fulfillment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and forecasting models.
• Experience with ERP, MRP, inventory management or demand planning software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across various departments including Sales, Finance, Product Management, Customer Service, and global teams.
• Strong detail orientation and capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience within HVAC, thermostats, building automation, smart home products, electronics, controls, or related industries.
• Knowledge of working with Asian contract manufacturers or suppliers.
• Background supporting wholesale distribution, OEM, retail, multifamily housing, hospitality, or contractor channels.
• Experience leading Sales & Operations Planning or integrated business planning processes.
• Relevant industry certifications like APICS CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD.
• Experience managing product launches, phase-outs, engineering changes, and lifecycle inventory planning.
• Familiarity with import regulations, tariffs, harmonized tariff codes, and international shipping documentation.
