Role Overview
The Learning Designer will establish the educational frameworks that support Mercor’s human data operations, serving both internal teams and the expansive network of experts managing intricate AI training projects. This role spans three focal points:
- Developing instructional content at the project level to enhance clarity and effectiveness for talent experts involved in data annotation and evaluation.
- Creating centralized learning academies focused on upskilling talent for cutting-edge data types, establishing certification and assessment paths.
- Designing internal training curricula that foster skills development for Mercor employees, from onboarding through advanced client engagements, alongside competency-based pathways and certification systems ensuring excellence.
As a Learning Designer, you will craft educational experiences that cultivate authentic expertise, improving the quality of data vital for AI systems.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in instructional or learning design, curriculum development, or technical writing.
- Strong understanding of learning theory and ability to design programs that build deep skills.
- Exceptional communication and writing skills to clarify complex information for diverse groups.
- Experience producing actionable task documentation and procedural materials.
- Analytical skills to identify instructional deficiencies impacting project quality.
- Capability to create content in multiple formats including text, videos, interactive exercises, and assessments.
- Adaptability to fast-paced, evolving environments, embracing iterative development.
- A systems thinking approach linking individual competencies to overall operational success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in technology, AI/ML, or data operations contexts.
- Experience designing training for high-growth startup environments.
- History in teaching, coaching, or educational leadership roles.
- Knowledge of data annotation, labeling, or evaluation processes.
- Experience training client-facing or sales teams.
Compensation and Location
The position is based full-time onsite in San Francisco, CA, with an anticipated salary of $125,000 annually.
