Overview
The role involves leading GST compliance and optimization at the unit level, ensuring statutory adherence, managing GST audits, budgets, and refunds while collaborating with legal and cross-functional teams. The candidate will focus on maximizing tax benefits, resolving disputes, and driving process improvements aligned with organizational standards and digitization efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan optimized use of GST provisions to minimize duty outflows.
- Develop annual indirect tax budgets factoring production forecasts and tax rates.
- Strategize for optimal Input Tax Credit (ITC) utilization to prevent capital blockage.
- Prepare proactively for GST audits and annual returns.
- Coordinate with GST authorities for timely approvals and authorizations.
- Engage legal advisors for appeals and responses to show-cause notices.
- Ensure swift processing of refund claims within deadlines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve tax-related issues.
- Conduct thorough verification of GST transactions to mitigate non-compliance risks.
- Respond promptly to GST department inquiries.
- Manage refund of coal cess on exports and oversee tax-paid exports with expedited refund handling.
- Address legal disputes with GST authorities effectively.
- Ensure strict conformance with GST and related indirect tax laws, minimizing litigation.
- Maintain compliance with Integrated Management System, Health, Safety, Environment, and security regulations.
- Stay updated on GST law changes, evaluating and implementing their business impact.
- Report GST compliance status, litigation progress, contingent liabilities to leadership and corporate entities.
- Share tax-related data and MIS reports across departments.
- Enhance process efficiencies, promoting automation and digital tools for record maintenance and reporting.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen and green belt activities.
- Uphold housekeeping standards and 5S culture.
- Develop and engage team members, improving performance, technical/behavioral skills, safety awareness, and morale.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Professional qualifications - CA, CMA, or CS.
- In-depth knowledge of national and international indirect tax laws, including current updates and interpretations.
- Understanding of technical production processes and tax implications at the unit level.
- Familiarity with key commercial laws and accounting procedures impacting tax.
- Strong leadership qualities aligned with organizational competency frameworks.
