About the Role
CGS Federal is looking for an experienced Law Clerk to support all stages of litigation for a major federal agency office. This position involves work on high-profile cases, including opioid litigation, offering a role that directly contributes to the agency’s mission. Key Responsibilities
- Support all litigation stages related to opioid and other significant cases.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and various litigation-related duties.
- Review and analyze documents, transcripts, and files to extract evidence and relevant information for investigations.
- Utilize electronic databases to conduct litigation support tasks such as organizing, indexing, tagging, and summarizing documents and files.
- Perform searches within databases to locate pertinent documents and information.
- Resolve technical issues encountered with document review platforms and tools.
- Apply redactions to various document types, including audio files.
- Prepare review memoranda and other litigation-related documents as requested by attorneys.
- Maintain communication with case teams regarding ongoing litigation efforts.
- Organize, draft, and manage materials pertinent to litigation reviews.
- Use task ticketing software to monitor and track litigation support activities.
Candidate Qualifications
- Possession of a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
- Active membership in the Bar of any U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience in civil litigation preferred, especially involving complex federal cases and jury trials.
- United States citizenship required.
- Completion of a law degree or at least two years at an ABA-accredited law school (or equivalent legal training), supplemented by a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience supporting litigation projects.
- Strong understanding of federal and state court systems, legal research methodologies, and resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in legal research tools like LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Practical experience with computer applications including word processing, databases (document review/file management systems), spreadsheets, and document imaging.
- Knowledge of ESI tools and familiarity with eDiscovery procedures and resources.
