Job Location and Schedule

This position is based in the Roane County School District at 120 Ollis Road, Oliver Springs, TN 37840, with vacancies available at other locations within the district. The role offers both full-time and part-time schedules held Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am, with additional details provided during the interview process.

Job Summary

The janitor’s main responsibility is to preserve the cleanliness and organization of buildings. Key duties include thorough cleaning tasks such as floor maintenance, carpet shampooing, washing walls and glass, and trash removal, thus ensuring a safe and distraction-free environment for staff, visitors, and students.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of trash adhering to established procedures and infection control protocols.
• Dust and damp mop floors following approved methods.
• Relocate and return equipment and furniture to allow access for cleaning.
• Sanitize all surfaces using assigned cleaning materials and tools according to an eight-step cleaning process.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other fixtures to maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Actively identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to address them.
• Complete all tasks assigned by supervisors promptly and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors, and shampoo carpets when required.
• Maintain professionalism and contribute positively within the team environment.
• Perform additional duties as directed.

Requirements and Preferences

Preference is given to candidates with prior janitorial experience, though SSC provides training for new hires.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly pay ranges from $10.00 to $12.00.
