Utilizing practical, research-backed techniques, the company aims to unlock students' full academic potential.
Role Overview
This is a part-time Industrial Designer position based remotely in Toronto, ON. The role requires transforming educational goals into tangible product concepts that are user-friendly, robust, and engaging for students. Daily duties involve generating ideas, sketching, creating 3D models, refining prototypes, and working collaboratively with educators and multidisciplinary teams to enhance solutions. The role also includes participating in user testing, integrating feedback into product iterations, and producing detailed documentation and specifications for manufacturing. Close cooperation with production partners is essential to guarantee quality, cost-efficiency, and adherence to the firm’s educational philosophy.
Qualifications
- Proficient industrial and product design capabilities demonstrated via a portfolio of user-focused physical products.
- Hands-on experience in prototyping and iterative product development processes.
- Strong application of Design Thinking to solve challenges, align products with educational objectives, and improve user experience.
- Skilled in design tools such as CAD software, with knowledge of materials, manufacturing techniques, and constraints.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related disciplines.
- Meticulous attention to detail combined with visual and spatial intelligence, with effective communication through sketches and presentations.
- Experience designing products for educational or child audiences is favorable, as is exposure to classroom or learning contexts.
- Ability to collaborate well, accept and integrate feedback, and attend occasional in-person meetings in Toronto.
