Role overview

Abri Group is seeking an Independent Living Partner to work in Merriot (TA16 5RD), with the nearest office located in Yeovil. This is an onsite role focused on supporting older residents across Independent Living schemes.

What the role involves

You will act as the main contact for tenancy, leasehold, and scheme-related matters for customers living in Independent Living properties. The position includes delivering housing management support within a designated scheme or group of properties for older people.

You will also help customers access their agreed welfare contacts and, where suitable, signpost or refer them to relevant services inside or outside the organisation when a need has been identified.

Another key part of the role is managing the social alarm system, carrying out compliance tasks, and completing health and safety checks across the assigned buildings. You will work closely with others to encourage resident participation and strengthen community engagement.

Key working conditions

This is a lone-working role, so confidence working independently is important. A full driving licence and access to a car are essential because travel is a necessary part of the job.

Applicants should be ready to travel across the region when needed and, in exceptional cases, across the wider Independent Living area. Candidates should also live within a reasonable distance of the patch to carry out the role effectively.

Flexibility is required, including working outside standard hours when needed. The normal service hours for Independent Living are 8:00am to 4:00pm, but the post holder may need to work in the evenings, on weekends, or on bank holidays. In the event of a critical or major out-of-hours emergency, the post holder may be contacted to help with the response.
