Role Summary
The Import Officer will be responsible for overseeing the entire import lifecycle, coordinating with various stakeholders such as suppliers, freight forwarders, customs, and internal teams to guarantee timely and accurate delivery of goods. This position is full-time and requires working on-site in Pakistan.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage import activities from documentation to shipment tracking and delivery coordination.
- Prepare, verify, and maintain accurate import documentation including letters of credit, invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
- Coordinate efficiently with customs officials, banks, logistics providers, and shipping lines ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support inspection teams with necessary documentation and information to uphold quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with commercial and finance teams to optimize costs and streamline operational processes.
- Monitor shipment statuses and resolve any issues such as delays or discrepancies proactively.
Qualifications and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of import procedures, customs rules, and required documentation.
- Experience collaborating with banks, customs agents, shipping companies, and logistics vendors.
- Proficiency with MS Office and ERP/trade management software for data management and reporting.
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to handle shipment and documentation challenges effectively.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage relations with internal teams and international partners.
- Capable of multitasking and working efficiently under pressure within tight deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field; import/export certifications considered advantageous.
- Experience in metals, energy, minerals trading, or similar import-related roles is preferred.
