Overview
The Human Resources Specialist is a pivotal member of the HR team, entrusted with enhancing and streamlining everyday HR operations across the company. This role demands utmost confidentiality, a professional demeanor, and operational excellence. Core responsibilities include managing full-cycle talent acquisition, employee onboarding, maintaining comprehensive employee records, administering benefits, ensuring adherence to labor regulations, and supporting broader HR functions.
This full-time position is based exclusively at the corporate office in Virginia Beach, VA, with no remote or hybrid work options. The annual salary range for this role is set between $55,000 and $65,000, with exact compensation determined by qualifications, experience, and relevant skills. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate recruitment and onboarding processes throughout the hiring lifecycle.
- Maintain employee records and files in compliance with agency standards and legal requirements.
- Respond efficiently and courteously to employee and applicant queries about HR policies and services.
- Provide administrative assistance to the HR department, including policy management and document preparation.
- Perform quality assurance audits on HRIS data to guarantee accuracy and data completeness.
- Update and refine standard operating procedures to promote effective HR operations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies.
- Stay informed about latest HR trends, best practices, and legislative changes.
- Build and maintain productive relationships across all employee levels, offering guidance on routine HR issues.
- Handle sensitive employee information discreetly, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Support HR leadership with administrative and operational tasks on a daily basis.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least two years' experience in a similar HR role.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills combined with excellent organizational abilities.
- High attention to detail and aptitude for complex problem-solving and analysis.
- Demonstrated capability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Commitment to confidentiality and careful management of sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum three years experience specifically in recruitment and onboarding.
- Deep understanding of labor laws, HR information systems, and compliance reporting requirements.
Physical and Essential Requirements
- Primarily sedentary work, with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds through lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling.
- Work mostly involves sitting; occasional walking and standing are required.
- Physical abilities include lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, and walking as necessary.
